Toric lenses are soft contact lenses with a cylinder, specially developed for eyes with a cylindrical deviation, better known as astigmatism. If you have this deviation, you see blurry both close and far. This can also occur in combination with short- and farsightedness and can be corrected by a toric or spectacle lens.
Toric lenses have two (2) different focal lengths in the lens both horizontally and vertically, spherical lenses only have one (1).
As a result, the toric contact lens must remain in the correct position to give the best visual acuity, with a significant reduction in the visual acuity when there is too much movement or twisting of the lens. This is why there are toric contact lenses with a weight at the bottom that prevent an excess of movement or rotation.
